Candy Collectibles Migration to Solana: What Fans Need to Know

Candy collectibles are moving to Solana. Here’s what fans need to know about migration timing, wallets, trading, and how to qualify as an “Active Fan.”

Candy Collectibles Migration to Solana: What Fans Need to Know

Last week, we announced that Candy collectibles are moving to Solana.

This move marks an important next chapter for Candy and our community.

By migrating to Solana, fans will gain access to a fast, secure, scalable blockchain built for long-term ownership and broader utility. Collectors will benefit from low-cost transactions, trusted self-custody, broader marketplace opportunities, and a more open ecosystem for buying, selling, and collecting.

We’re also building on Metaplex Core, which embeds royalty protections directly into collectibles and unlocks entirely new opportunities for fan experiences over time, from smarter rewards and dynamic collectibles to new forms of digital utility beyond static ownership.

Unlike many other marketplaces, where royalties often depend on marketplace policies or off-chain agreements, Metaplex Core embeds royalty enforcement directly into the code itself. That means creators, licensors, and rights holders are better protected every time a collectible changes hands.

Most importantly, we are committed to making this migration as simple and seamless as possible.

If you have not logged into your Candy account recently, now is the time.

Logging into your Candy account and reviewing your collection by May 20, 2026 will qualify you as an “Active Fan” and include you in the initial migration support process.

The migration itself will begin in May and will occur in batches over multiple days. During that window, some fans may see their collectibles appear on Solana before others as assets are processed in phases. This is expected and part of the rollout process.

Migration Support for Fans

For eligible “Active Fans,” Candy will cover the technical services fees associated with migrating their collectibles to Solana, including applicable network fees and the technical work required to re-mint assets onto the new blockchain.

An “Active Fan” is anyone who has:

  • Completed a transaction on Candy since January 1, 2024, or
  • Logged in to the Candy platform and viewed their collection since January 1, 2024

If you have not yet qualified as an Active Fan, there is still time. Fans who log in and view their collection by May 20, 2026 will automatically be considered an Active Fan entitled to free migration support.

Active Fans will also receive access to a self-custody Solana wallet at no charge to help make the transition seamless.

Fans who do not meet “Active Fan” eligibility will still be able to migrate their collectibles during calendar year 2026 by requesting migration through the new Candy website. The site will include clear instructions as to how to make this request.

Before anything is moved, you will be asked to review, accept, and pay the applicable technical services fees to migrate your assets.

Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about timing, wallets, migration support, trading, and what to expect next.

We’re hard at work behind the scenes finalizing what this new era of Candy has in store. We’ll be sharing more updates in the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned… we’re just getting started.

Candy Collectibles Migration FAQ

We know you have questions about the upcoming move to Solana. Here’s what that means for your collection, your wallet, and what - if anything - you need to do.

When is the migration happening?

The migration will begin in May, with the exact dates to be announced shortly. It will take place over multiple days and will occur largely behind the scenes - you won't need to do anything in real time. Certain assets may not migrate immediately where the underlying intellectual property requires additional review.

Why is Candy migrating to Solana?

Because fans deserve their assets on a fast, secure, scalable blockchain built for long-term ownership and broader utility. Solana gives you low-cost transactions, trusted self-custody, and access to a growing marketplace ecosystem - so your collectibles aren't tied to a single platform. We'll also be building on Metaplex Core, which embeds royalty protections directly into your assets and opens the door to entirely new fan experiences over time: from smarter rewards and dynamic collectibles to new forms of digital utility that go beyond static ownership. This migration is the foundation, not the finish line.

How will packs migrate?

Packs will migrate in their current state - nothing will be opened, altered, or changed during the migration process. If you have an unopened pack, it will remain unopened.

Will any changes affect my baseball cards, comics or other collectibles?

No. Your collectibles, rarity, edition/serial numbers, and associated metadata will carry over unchanged. The migration is purely a technical format change, not a modification to your assets.

Do I need to create a Solana wallet?

No. We will create a self-custody Solana wallet for you. Your Solana wallet will be accessible when you first log-in into the new Candy website.

Can I use my own external Solana wallet?

We are evaluating options for fans who would want to use their own self-custody wallet and connect it to their Candy account. More details on wallet configuration options, including whether external wallets can be connected, will be shared in due course.

Who qualifies as an “Active Fan”?

An Active Fan is anyone who has logged into their Candy account (including as part of the interim Candy website) between January 1, 2024 and May 20, 2026. If you are not already an Active Fan, you can become one by logging into your account on the interim Candy website by no later than May 20, 2026.

If you do not qualify as an Active Fan, please read the section below, entitled: “If I am not an Active Fan, what happens to my collectibles?”

What does the migration look like for Active Fans?

You do not need to take any action, migration will occur automatically. Candy will cover all technical services fees associated with migrating your collectibles to Solana, including network fees and the technical work required to re-mint your assets onto the new blockchain.

Here's an example: if you own an unopened pack, Candy will cover all technical services fees required to re-mint that pack onto Solana and make it available in your Candy generated Solana wallet. The pack remains unopened, exactly as you left it. Once migrated, fees associated with any subsequent pack-opening and in-pack asset minting will remain your responsibility.

After migration, you will log in to the new Candy website to view your migrated collection. At this time you will be asked to accept our updated Terms of Use, reflecting the move to Solana and the new wallet model, among other things.

If I am not an Active Fan, what happens to my collectibles?

Your collectibles won't migrate automatically. You can still migrate, but you'll need to request it through the new Candy website. Before anything is moved, you'll be asked to review and accept the applicable technical services fees to migrate your selected assets. Fees may be paid using Candy platform credits or credit card.

Here's an example: if you own an unopened pack and request migration, you'll be responsible for the technical services fees to re-mint that pack onto Solana and make it available in your Candy digital wallet. Once migrated, fees for pack-opening and in-pack asset minting are also your responsibility. These fees can be paid using platform credits.

Think of the technical services fees as the cost of moving your collection to a new, more open platform. It is not a new purchase. Without migration, your collectibles will be accessible on platform for future use or migration at a later date up until December 31, 2026.

Where can I trade my collectibles after migration?

Secondary trading will be available through supported third-party Solana marketplaces including Magic Eden and others to be announced.

Will I still be able to buy collectibles at Candy.io?

Yes. Candy.io will continue to operate as a storefront for new product sales. Candy.io will provide a platform to view your collection, participate in events, and grow your collection through primary sales and product drops. Following migration and the Candy platform relaunch, you will have self-custody of your assets via your Solana wallet, all new purchases will mint directly to your wallet, and secondary trading will be supported by third-party Solana marketplaces.

What happens to assets that are not migrated?

Assets that cannot be migrated or are not migrated will remain associated with the legacy system and accessible on platform via Candy.io for future use and/or migration until at least December 31, 2026. Further details on our legacy system support policy will be shared in due course.

What are and when can I use my platform credits?

Platform credits may be used for future Candy primary sales, technical services fees for migration (where applicable), and additional events and experiences on Candy.io. Credits are not cash, do not constitute stored value, and are not redeemable for fiat currency. They have no value outside the Candy.io platform.
