Your Questions, Answered: The New Candy Wallet

We’ve seen a lot of good questions over the past few days. Here’s where things stand and what’s coming next.

Can I move my collectibles and SOL to a wallet I control, like Phantom or Ledger?

Yes. Your collectibles and SOL are yours. Once you’ve claimed your new Candy wallet, you’ll be able to transfer them to any Solana wallet you choose. If you prefer a simple, secure experience, you can keep everything in the Candy wallet. If you want to manage your own keys, you can move everything to a wallet of your choice. We’ll share timing as each feature goes live.

What about MoonPay? Who controls the key, and what about recovery, fees, KYC and availability?

Neither Candy nor MoonPay holds your private key. Anything you’d normally use a private key for, like holding, buying, selling and transferring, you can do directly through your wallet.

We know there’s a lot more you want to understand, including:

  • how recovery and approvals work
  • what happens if MoonPay has an outage
  • protections around the wallet infrastructure
  • fees on everyday transactions
  • whether KYC is required
  • availability for UK and other international collectors

We’ll share more details soon and host a live Q&A to walk through how the new wallet works and answer your questions directly.

Are our Candy account emails safe?

Collector email addresses were stored in our database, and our review found no evidence that they were accessed or compromised during the incident. We also never stored passwords or other data that could be used to access your personal email account, so nothing from Candy could be used to take over your inbox. As always, be cautious of unexpected messages, and remember that Candy will never ask for your password or one-time code.

Will the SOL locked as rent in open offers and listings be refunded?

Yes. The SOL locked as rent in your open listings will be refunded. We’re also taking a closer look at cancelling open offers and will share an update soon.

When will my SOL be restored?

Restoring SOL to collectors is underway. Here’s the order of operations:

  1. SOL restoration: in progress now.
  2. Wallet claim period: expected to start early next week.
  3. Marketplace connections: a few days after claiming opens.
  4. Transfers to external wallets: to follow.

If you’re seeing your collectibles move but no SOL yet, that’s expected at this stage. We’ll post updates as each step goes live.

Will auctions be part of the relaunch?

Auctions remain part of our plans. We’ll share more as we get closer to our next releases.

Thanks for your patience and for continuing to ask questions. More early next week.
