Candy Update: Migration Start and Pre-Migration Burn Window
Candy is announcing its plan for inactive accounts ahead of the May 20 reactivation deadline. Fans are encouraged to reactivate their accounts by May 20 to qualify for the burning or migration of their digital assets and avoid future inactive account maintenance fees.
Dear Fans:
In light of the thrilling number of fans who have visited the Candy.io interim site and thereby reactivated their accounts, we are going to adjust slightly the timing and plan of migration.
First, we now anticipate beginning the migration to Solana using Metaplex on May 21, not May 11. As a reminder, this migration will take a few days and not everyone will see their assets on-chain at the same time during the migration. In other words, until the migration is completed, which we will announce, not all fans’ assets will be visible.
Second, this timing adjustment will enable us to offer the opportunity for active fans to burn digital assets on the Candy.io interim site prior to the migration to Solana. This new burning feature will open on the Candy.io interim site on May 12 and we anticipate it will remain open until May 20, which is the same final deadline to qualify as an Active Fan. After May 20, the Candy.io interim site will be closed to further burning until after the site relaunches on June 1.
For fans who want to curate their collections ahead of the migration, each eligible digital asset burned during this pre-migration window will receive $0.50 in Candy platform credit. These credits can be used toward eligible future purchases on Candy after the migration to Solana and the June 1 site relaunch. We know many fans have built deep collections over the years. This “pre-migration burn window” gives Active Fans more flexibility before the June 1 relaunch, enabling them to turn select assets they no longer wish to keep into platform credits as they prepare for the next era of Candy collecting.
As a reminder, Candy platform credits are not redeemable for cash, cannot be withdrawn, are non-transferable, and may only be used toward eligible purchases on Candy. Credits from this legacy asset burn program will expire if unused by May 31, 2027.
Active Fans who are interested in using this feature are encouraged to do so during the pre-migration window, because we anticipate reducing significantly the value of the burn credits on legacy assets after the migration.
As always, we welcome questions at [email protected] and of course my email is [email protected] for anyone who wants to write to me directly. Thanks again for all you do!
Up and to the right,
Tad Smith, CEO of Candy Digital
