2022 MLB ICON Leadoff Series News

From Day 1, our community has been at the core of Candy’s mission as we work to reimagine and build the future of fandom. Your collective support, feedback and engagement have helped us shape our product offerings today and develop our roadmap for the future. Over the past few weeks, we have heard your concerns with the 2022 MLB ICON Leadoff Series, and want to respond to them by sharing some news and significant updates with you.

Here’s the latest on the 2022 MLB ICON Leadoff Series moving forward:

• Pack Price Change: Going forward starting with Lineup 3, the retail price for 2022 MLB ICON Leadoff Series packs will be reduced from $50 USD to $30 USD. The number of NFTs per pack (5) will not change.
• Pack Airdrop: For every 2022 Leadoff Series pack purchased on the primary market, customers will be airdropped one additional pack from Lineup 1 or Lineup 2. For example, if you had purchased 10 2022 Leadoff Series packs from Lineup 1, you’ll receive 10 Lineup 1 or Lineup 2 Leadoff Series packs. The airdrop will take place on Monday 5/9.
• Reduced Player Pool: We are reducing the total number of player ICONs in the Leadoff Series to 630, from the originally-planned 720 player release. The 90 player ICONs we’re removing are those with rarities in the Core and Uncommon tiers only.

Lineup Update: Due to the reduction of player ICONs, the total number of Lineups is now six [6]. The drop schedule for Lineups 3-6 is now:

May 10th: Lineup 3, ~31k packs

May 24th: Lineup 4, ~31k packs

May 31st: Lineup 5, ~31k packs

June 14th: Lineup 6, ~31k packs

Evolution of Collection Challenges

We’re excited to share that we’ll be rolling out a burning mechanism in conjunction with a new category of collection challenges. Coming this summer, collectors will be able to burn their ICON NFTs and receive a new ICON rarity in return. We’re excited about the new collecting dynamics this will introduce, and will share further details in the coming weeks.

‍Secondary Marketplace Close

We’ll be temporarily closing the secondary Marketplace to allow our fans the chance to pivot with this recent news in mind. We’ll open it back up in two hours at 7pm ET.‍

AMA with CEO Scott Lawin

Lastly, we’re excited to share that our CEO Scott Lawin will host a live AMA on Discord next Tuesday 5/10 at 8:30 PM ET. We’ll create a temporary #ama-candy channel where Scott will field questions from the community. Questions and concerns will be ranked via community votes, and the ones with the highest number of community votes (marked with green check mark) will be addressed by Scott during his AMA. Please keep questions concise in order to get the best responses. Submissions will close by Monday at 6 PM ET, so be sure to get them in now! We’ll record the session to share on our YouTube channel to view any time afterwards in case you miss it.
